AYA had a very valuable lecture at Seoul Arts Center’s ‘improvement course for professionals of culture and art’, which spanned for two months. The purpose of this course was mainly for training the professionals working in the culture-and-art-related career to help them improve their capability. The target participants were employees and members who are from organizations, corporations, and associations in partnership with Seoul Arts Center.

AYA found out that there is such a course available to take only recently since AYA was deeply into running the gallery and art itself since the opening of Brown Gallery in 2009. Even if I knew, there was neither spare time nor that I was able to relax mentally to participate in such an informative course. I finally decided to participate this time with our cooperative company, however, because I felt like I would never be able to after this year. It was such an amazing experience to have an opportunity to meet lots of other professionals working in the same art and culture field, and to learn about the general currents and trends of the art industry. It was a priceless experience that will greatly affect AYA’s future career path and our development even though it was a little disappointing that we could not participate for the whole day. Towards the end of the course, there were opportunities to see an exhibition of Frida Kahlo, and to have tours of Kumho Museum of Art, and Arario Museum. So I decided to post and share with you the experience of visiting Kumho Museum of Art and Arario Museum.

The chair collection exhibition called ‘BIG: Kids and Design’, which will be displayed until September 11th, at Kumho Museum of Art seemed like a perfect exhibition to visit with children. From learning the history and the transition of chair design that include both practical use and playful elements to other current work of the designers, you will have a chance to see diverse work of six furniture designers of Korea.

After, we went to Arario Museum, which is located pretty close to Kumho Museum of Art. The exhibition titled as ‘Really?’ was made of small and big spaces that were connected elaborately throughout the building by triangular and spiral stairs. It was very unique space since it made us feel like we were going on an adventure in a maze made for modern art. Getting surprised and amazed at the shocking freshness of the work, AYA was able to enjoy the exhibition that had various impressions. It also made me take some time to take an interest in today’s artists’ lives and art itself after having time to experience the modern art. It was an unforgettable time and learning that we will treasure and remember for AYA’s future path; we are very excited to take our steps more in depth for the upcoming projects of our own!
